Prime Quadrant was founded in 1997
In the mid-1990s, Ian Rosmarin retired as a senior executive from Henry Schein Inc., a Fortune 500 Company, and moved back to Toronto. He had accumulated a sizable nest-egg through years of hard work, and now faced a dilemma: In order to give him the best chance at preserving his wealth, he went looking for something that did not exist. Specifically, Ian was looking for a firm that would provide him with:
- Diversification across all asset classes and geographies
- Access to best-in-class opportunities
- Conflict-free advice
- Independent research and a disciplined process
- Traditional and alternative investments
Ian surveyed the financial advisory landscape in Canada. It was bleak. Rather than settle for what he considered to be sub-standard options, Ian set out to manage his own capital. He opened up an office and got to work. Over time, friends started to ask Ian whether he would help them with their investing since he was already busy doing it for himself. These were Prime Quadrant’s first – and somewhat unexpected – clients.
