Investment Analyst

The Opportunity

Prime Quadrant is currently seeking an exceptional individual to join our team as an Investment Analyst. You will be working on the Investment Team. In this role, you will be responsible for the initial and ongoing due diligence of external investments across asset classes including Public Equity, Private Equity, Credit, Real Assets, Hedge Funds, and Fixed Income. The ideal candidate will have two to four years of experience conducting due diligence across both public and private markets.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Source, screen, and conduct due diligence on a wide spectrum of fund investment opportunities across asset classes including Public Equity, Private Equity, Credit, Real Assets, Hedge Funds, and Fixed Income.
  • Prepare detailed investment research reports for presentation to the firm’s Investment Committee.
  • Participate in and support discussions in the firm’s Investment Committee meetings.
  • Support the ongoing due diligence and monitoring of existing fund investments.
  • Participate in meetings with third-party managers and write meeting notes.
  • Maintain and enhance proprietary databases comprised of both qualitative and quantitative information, with special attention to the maintenance of required information for new investments and redemptions.
  • Contribute to the research and formulation of views on various investment strategies under differing macroeconomic environments.
  • Provide input to the asset allocation and portfolio construction process.
  • Assist in the management of the firm’s proprietary investment vehicles.
  • Contribute to the enhancement of the firm’s sourcing, due diligence, and monitoring processes.
  • Assist in the analysis of ad hoc investment opportunities on behalf of Senior Consultants and their clients.
  • Assist in the preparation of monthly and quarterly performance reports, and troubleshoot performance analytics.
  • Review and address inquiries from Consulting team members regarding existing investments.
  • Continually look for ways to automate processes and help make the firm more efficient.
  • Any other tasks and responsibilities assigned to you by the firm.

Qualifications

  • Undergraduate or advanced business degree (e.g., B.Comm, BBA, MBA, etc.)
  • CFA, CAIA, Master of Finance, or other relevant investment-related designations would be considered an asset.
  • Two to four years of investment research experience, ideally in the alternative investments arena. Experience across both liquid (Hedge Funds) and illiquid (Private Equity, Credit, Real Assets) strategies would be viewed favourably, as would familiarity with fund investments. Ideally, you will have experience across the full due diligence process from start to finish.
  • Good understanding of a wide range of financial instruments as well as a solid understanding of common hedge fund and private market strategies.
  • Experience doing due diligence on direct deals and co-investments would be considered an asset.
  • Experience working as part of a portfolio management team would be considered an asset.
  • Experience working with Salesforce Financial Cloud would be considered an asset.
  • Qualified to be registered with the Ontario Securities Commission (or similar provincial regulator) as an Associate Advisory Representative (“AAR”) would be viewed favourably.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

  • Industry competitive base salary with a performance-based bonus structure.
